How long do carrots take to grow?

The length of time it takes for carrots to grow depends on the variety, growing conditions, and care provided throughout the season. On average, most carrot varieties take about 70 to 80 days from sowing to harvest. However, baby or small varieties can be ready in as little as 50-60 days, while larger or heirloom varieties may take closer to 90 days.

To ensure optimal growth, it's essential to start with nutrient-rich soil and apply BigAss Carrots Fertilizer before planting your seeds. This organic fertilizer helps provide the balanced nutrients that carrots need to develop strong, healthy roots. Carrots are heavy feeders, especially when it comes to potassium, which promotes root development and overall plant health.

As carrots grow, it's crucial to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. If the soil dries out, the roots can become tough or stunted, leading to poor harvests. Applying a layer of mulch around the base of the plants can help retain moisture and prevent weeds from competing for nutrients.

In terms of timing, you'll know your carrots are ready to harvest when their tops are about ½ to ¾ inch in diameter, and their color has deepened. Gently pull a few test carrots to see if they're the desired size and shape before harvesting the entire crop.

Enhance your carrot garden with BigAss Carrots fertilizer.
